Bio

Mike English serves as the CEO of The Moran Company, where he leverages over 20 years of nonprofit leadership to help nonprofit organizations navigate leadership transitions. Since joining the firm in 2020 as a Search Consultant, Mike has specialized in C-suite recruitment (CEO, CFO, and COO) across diverse sectors including community foundations, education, mental health, developmental disabilities, affordable housing, social services, and human services. In addition to his work leading searches, Mike helps to train and coach other members of the Moran Company search team while also leading the firm’s prospect research efforts.

Mike understands the skills and attributes it takes to be an effective nonprofit CEO because he has held that role himself. Prior to joining The Moran Company, Mike was the Founding Executive Director of Turn the Page KC, a position he held from 2013 – 2020. In partnership with former Mayor Sly James, Mike grew the organization from a Mayor’s initiative into an organization that achieved national recognition for improving 3rd grade reading scores for Kansas City children. Mike also served as the President & CEO of the Missouri Council on Economic Education, a statewide nonprofit focused on financial literacy. Prior to these roles Mike worked for the Kauffman Foundation and for the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project, a nonprofit organization based in Pennsylvania.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago. A dedicated advocate for the nonprofit sector, Mike serves on the Board of Directors for the Network of Nonprofit Search Consultants and co-chairs the organization’s Professional Development Committee. He also serves as the Board Treasurer for the Parent Leadership Training Institute – Kansas City, a local nonprofit organization that trains and mobilizes parents to be leading advocates for children.
