Bio
Scott E. Miller is a Principal with Scott Miller Executive Search, a national firm founded in January 2009 specializing in education and nonprofit sectors with a focus on diversity. He has more than 37 years’ experience with leading retained executive search firms, providing executive-level professional services and serving in the public sector.

Mr. Miller most recently served as a Client Partner in Korn/Ferry International’s San Francisco office, where he spent nine years as a member of the firm’s Non-Profit and Education Practice, as well as the Diversity Practice.

Previously, Mr. Miller worked as the Western Regional Staffing Manager for Watson Wyatt Worldwide (now Willis Towers Watson), an international human resources’ benefits consulting firm, where he established a nine-office regional recruitment function. Mr. Miller recruited for all levels across all practice areas of the company.

Prior to Watson Wyatt, Mr. Miller worked in the San Francisco office of a boutique executive search firm, The Alexander Group, recruiting mid- to upper-level management candidates. While there, he served as an outsourced human resources/recruitment firm for the nation’s largest private utility. He also worked at the San Francisco office of a Spencer Stuart.

Mr. Miller began his career in Washington, D.C. where he served at the U.S. Department of Labor focusing on Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity, and later at The White House in Presidential Personnel where he recruited executives for political appointments within the administration.

Mr. Miller is a graduate of the University of Alabama.

Mr. Miller was elected to the Board of Directors of Frameline in October 2024 and currently serves as the Chair of the Development Committee. He joined the Board of The Pomeroy Recreation & Rehabilitation Center in September 2018 and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Nominations Committee. He was also elected to the Board of The Bread Project in May 2018 and currently serves as the Chair of the Board. He most recently served on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) from 2012 to 2016 and served as the Chair of the Nominations Committee. Mr. Miller also was on the National Board of Directors of GLAAD from 2009 to 2015. He was Co-Chair of the Board from 2010 to 2011 and chaired both the development and governance committees. Mr. Miller served as the Chairman of the Board of Academy Of Friends, a San Francisco non-profit that raised money for HIV/AIDS service organizations in the Bay Area. He also managed the development function of the organization – both individual and corporate giving – and board member recruitment during his tenure from 2002 to 2008.
